Through live, interactive videoconferencing, students participate in conversations with museum educators that are two-way and fully interactive.

Virtual learning for Pre-K–Grade-12 students offers connections
with the CMA collection through live, interactive video sessions with a
CMA educator. Explore artworks through discussion, writing, drawing,
and movement. Lessons are designed for grades Pre-K–Grade-12 and are designed to support standards.

Program Details

Format

1. Open with discussion of American characteristics.
2. Introduce artists and the influence of historical conditions on their work.
3. Discuss significance of self portraits.
4. Self portrait activity.
5. Compare and contrast early American art with other European Art.
6. Discuss how 18th c. philosophical ideas contributed to the American Revolution.

Objectives

Students will understand that art may be considered as a reflection of “American” values, identity, and political culture.
Students will learn about the significance of global trade to the Colonial American economy.
