Program Details

Format

1. This program begins with a short video familiarizing the audience with the location and mission of the Alaska Zoo.
2. Introduction to staff member and encounter animal(s).
3. Discussion- A Rodent?!
4. Discoveries with biofacts- Awesome adaptations!
5. Discoveries with photos/video- What porcupines eat.
6. Discussion and photo slideshow on other porcupine species around the world.
7. Time allowed for questions and answers.

Objectives

Through this program participants should be able to:
*Describe what makes an animal a rodent.
*List some characteristics of North American porcupines.
*Identify some different porcupine adaptations.
*Discuss various species of porcupines.
