Format
1. Begin with the definition of digital footprint and why it is important.
2. Students will build a “digital footprint” as a class of how they currently use the internet and technology.
3. Digital citizenship will then be explained and how it relates to a digital footprint.
4. Students will learn the 9 aspects of digital citizenship.
5. Students will hear how responsibilities come with the use of the internet and they will review the Golden Rule.
6. The criteria for finding reliable resources will be explained.
7. Students will discuss what makes a secure password.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:
1. Explain what is meant by the term ‘digital citizenship.’
2. Explain at least four themes associated with digital citizenship.
3. List three positive uses for technology.
4. List three negative uses for technology.
5. Analyze what should or should not be posted on the internet.
6. Create strong passwords to protect personal privacy while using technology.
7. State two characteristics of a credible internet source.
8. Explain what is meant by the term ‘digital footprint’.
9. State behaviors involved in cyberbullying.
