Amanda began singing and writing songs at an early age and performed often for community events. After attending Winona State University for communication and music, she began a more intentional look at returning to music after her nephew was diagnosed with leukemia. In 2010 she released a children's album called, "Trains, Cars + A Trip To Mars." Soon after his father also passed away. Amanda wrote some songs from the experience and released, "Embrace" in 2012.


After a successful kickstarter project, she released her first EP called, "Keeping Hearts" in June 2014. Currently, "Better Life" EP is set to be her most poignant work yet; taking her almost 2 years to complete.

She has given a yearly performance at the The Mid West Music Festival since its inception, enjoys the Rochesterfest kids music stage, and offers classes for young children in her local community. She also teaches songwriting at youth writing conferences within the state.

She has hopes to return to the studio this winter for the beginning of her second album for kids called, "Music Makes It Right.

Program Details

Format

1.) Amanda will introduce herself
2.) Amanda will invite listeners to sing along to a specific song, i.e. national anthem
3.) Amanda will sing/invite sing along during concert
4.) Amanda will conclude show, inviting discussion with educators

Objectives

The participant will:
- Develop an appreciation for our nations patriotic songs
- Develop a deeper understanding of the role of our veterans
- Hear the difference between 'modern' songs and songs written for a specific reason
- Find connection to each other by singing along; resulting in positive mental health
