Students will gain a better understanding of culurtal diversity and how people use personal adornment or ornamentation to communicate social, positional and economic information about themselves and the societies in which they live.

Provider's Cancellation Policy

• A 50% deposit is required four weeks prior to the day of your program. Your deposit is fully refundable if the program is canceled at least two weeks in advance. Programs canceled less than 2 weeks from the reservation date are subject to forfeiture of deposit.
• Your deposit will be applied to your total balance, and the remaining balance will be due 48 hours prior to your program.
• If scheduling within four weeks of your program the deposit is due at the time of booking.
• No refunds will be granted if you miss any or all your scheduled program.
• Final receipt will be emailed to the field trip coordinator following your program.

Program Details

Format

A Fernbank Educator will introduce students to the program and share fun visuals including videos, graphics, and artifacts. Students will also participate in discussions and activities. The program will end with a Q&A opportunity for students.

Engaging pre- and post-program activities aligned with standards will also be provided via Moodle.

Essential Question: In what ways do symbols and adornments reflect where and how people live?

Students will also:
1. Discuss the concepts of culture, including learned behaviors passed from generation to
generation.
2. Identify examples and recognize the differences in personal adornment as reflections of
cultural components and methods of communicating information such as group membership,
status and beliefs.
