Live Puppet Show: Bird that Wants to Fly

Join professional puppeteer Kris Bluett-Woolen of Pacific Puppetry Institute to explore a story rich in social and emotional learning. Students will go through a SEL workshop to empathize with the characters and relate their feelings to their own life.

This unique online musical puppet show is based on the SEL zones of regulation model from Leah Kuypers, MA.Ed.

Bird that Wants to Fly is written by Diane Kaufman, a child psychiatrist at Mind Matters and founder of Creative Life Lines. CLL reaches out with compassion and creativity to help save lives.

Program Details

Format

This program begins with a workshop in the creative expression, zones of regulation and empathy.
Act 1 - identifying emotions
Act 2 - empathy
Act 3 - creative expression
Students will have the opportunity to chat live with the puppeteer and puppets throughout the interactive program

Objectives

The participant will identify emotions in themself, other people, and characters in a story.

The participant will practice empathy for others.

The participant will compare how characters’ feelings change in a story.
