Format
Throughout each program, students will be given critical information as well as image or quote prompts to generate discussion. Students may work in small groups and then engage in whole class interaction. Each lesson mirrors what might happen in a traditional classroom, but leverages virtual technology to create a unique and interactive experience.
Objectives
Lesson 1:
Students will have an understanding of their digital footprint. In this lesson, they will learn how to protect their identity and avoid traps and scams. They will also learn what to do if they experience basic identity theft.
Lesson 2:
Students will make connections on how their emotions can be affected by how they are perceived online. They will know the dangers of using false identities, and learn how to spot them as they explore the Internet. Students will understand the responsibilities that come with existing online.
Lesson 3:
Students will determine what is and is not appropriate to share online. They will understand plagiarism, how to spot it, and how to avoid it in their own posting. Students will gain tools to help them determine if news is fake or not.
