In this Digital Citizenship Series, students will learn how to safely and responsibly navigate the many aspects of the Internet.

Delivering live virtual learning for over a decade, we know how to engage students by leveraging technology and engaging with them on issues important to them. Your students are digital natives. They have knowledge and experience, and this series gives them a chance to both learn and share. Delivered by two live teachers, this is an interactive experience that will leave students engaged, curious and thoughtful about their own internet usage.

The series includes the following three programs:

1. The Internet and You - This lesson focuses on the importance of cybersecurity.

2. Taking a Digital Stand - This lesson focuses on navigating online advertisements and hate speech.

3. Digital Futures - This lesson focuses on planning for technology of the future.

Program Details

Format

Each program is unique depending on the needs and curiosity of each class. The learning content is the same, but discussions often move to areas that interest the students the most. Two live teachers join each program to present information, various discussion prompts, games and to facilitate conversations.

Objectives

Lesson 1:

Students will recognize their own right to privacy online. They will learn and understand basic online privacy policy. Students will then explore how and why to use a VPN.

Lesson 2:

Students will understand how companies might target them with advertisements online and learn what they can do to protect themselves. They will examine their own experiences with hate speech, and determine how they can protect themselves and their communities online.

Lesson 3:

Students will know the importance of online etiquette when it comes to their careers. They will explore different existing careers on the internet. Students will leave with online tools to help them transition to High School.
