Program Details

Format

1. students will share ideas about why plants are important
2. students will learn about all the needs of a plant
3. we will then review the parts of a plant
4. students will act out the life of a plant
5. we will review the life cycle of the plant we acted out
6. students will learn how to grow a vegetable garden using leftovers they may have at home in their own kitchen
7. if time allows we will talk about how to use each of our 5 senses to safely explore plants
8. time for Q&A

Objectives

• Students will learn plant parts – seed, root, stem, leaves and flower – and their basic functions.
• Students will learn where the parts are located on the plant.
• Students will act out the life cycle of a plant.
• Students will learn how to plant a flower.
• Students will learn how to take care of a plant by putting it in the sun, watering it and keeping it warm.
